"It's totally temporary."

Saying it again is reassuring. He keeps working on believing it. He turns his face to look at Poison, thinking that over.

"He. I'm still me in here."

Poison nods. "Alright. Just hit me if I slip up or something. I mean, I don't think I will? But, y'know. Just in case." He doesn't think it will be an issue mostly because he's known Jack as a he since they met and he's pretty sure it won't be too hard to keep that up.

He offers a little smile and leans to give Jack a kiss. It's a little different.

"Well, the bad news is, if you wanna look femme I'm not sure you'll fit in my clothes."

"Because tits?" says Jack, smiling at how ridiculous that sounds, leaning into the kiss a little, chasing after it. He collapses back against his pillow, looking up at Poison. "Jesus."

Poison rolls his eyes. "Because tall, asshole." Then he pouts and crosses his arms over his chest. "Don't make fun of me for being flat-chested, it's rude."

Then he smiles a little and tips his head. "What's up?"

"Do I still look tall to you?" asks Jack. He grins, biting his lip and reaches out to trace the point of Poison's chin with long, slim fingers. "Does it bother you? Being flat-chested?" He raises one eyebrow. "It just...feels weird."

"I don't think you're any shorter?" Poison turns his head, trying to judge. "And no, it doesn't bother me." He smiles and turns his head towards Jack's touch. He looks at his face, studies it.

"You look different," he says, and he knows Jack looks like Jillie now, which is a little weird. He sees familiar features, but it's not... He doesn't know how to phrase it. "Your eyes are the same, at least."

"You can still see me, right?" say sJack, his eyebrows drawing together in concern for a moment. "You're still...you know...You still think I'm..."

He fumbles for the right word.

"I still think you're what?" he prompts, tone actually rather gentle. He watches the way the expressions play over Jack's face - those are still familiar, even if the face is not quite the same.

God, he feels ridiculous even asking. He can feel his face starting to heat. He deliberately ignores the shape of his body under the sheet.

"You'res still into me?"

Poison's look softens. "Baby, I'm pan. What you've got going on between your legs literally doesn't matter to me. It's just a surprise that you are very suddenly different that's taking some getting used to, that's all." It's not like Jack had transitioned or anything. It had just happened over night.

"I mean, academically, I know that," says Jack, worrying his lip with his teeth for a moment. He skims his fingers along Poison's bicep. "I just...am having a lot of feelings right now. It's fine." He laughs. "Pretty different, huh?"

"It's okay not to be zen about this," he points out. "I mean, you know I could totally try provoking you if you think it'd help get the feelings out."

It wouldn't be the first time.

Poison looks Jack over, smiling when he realizes Jack still has his tattoos. He reaches to brush along the familiar colors and lines. "Different," he agrees. "But still you."

"Oh, God," says Jack, sighing. "I need to pee." He takes a moment and then huffs out a breath, sitting up and swinging his legs out of bed. He stands up all in one go. He turns back to Poison and sort of...arranges his arms to give himself a modicum of modesty. It's a new impulse around Poison.

"I'm going to pee."

"You said that," Poison says with a little smile. He stays on the bed, not making a move to follow. If Jack needs privacy, then he needs privacy.

And he definitely doesn't look below Jack's waist. For long.

Poison's doing his best, Jack can tell, and he appreciates that, even if he does blush darkly anyway. He goes to the bathroom, figures out how to pee. He was around Jillie enough that it occurs to him to wipe.

Jesus.

He comes back into the bedroom and, this time, he leaves his hands where they are at his side.

"Well?" he asks, tilting his head, hair spilling over one bare shoulder.

Poison lifts his eyebrows when Jack comes back. "Well what?" he asks, maintaining impressive eye contact for a moment.

Then he looks down, looks Jack over, because he has a feeling that's what Jack is asking about.

"You look really good, baby."

"Yeah?" asks Jack, turning in a slow circle. He's trying to get used to the way this body moves when he does. He pushes long hair back from his face and then he gets back into bed, slipping under the blankets and pressing close against Poison to banish a sudden chill.

Poison wraps his arms around Jack, welcoming him close. "Hey," he murmurs. He nuzzles Jack's hair; he smells the same, and it's comforting. "Want me to braid your hair or something? To keep it out of the way, I mean." He blushes. He's not trying to treat Jack differently, he's just offering to help.

"Yeah, maybe," says Jack, because that might actually feel nice. He tilts his head, looking for a kiss.

He leans in to meet Jack in a kiss, his hand sliding to cradle his face. "Love you," he murmurs. Poison gives Jack a smile and kisses him again, then coaxes him to sit up.

He uses his fingers to come Jack's hair, to separate it into three parts so he can braid it. He used to do little braids in Girl's hair, though Jet was way better at helping to care for it.

"It's gonna be fine. This is totally only temporary, just a weird... Darrow thing." He kisses Jack's shoulder.

It does feel nice as Poison braids his hair. Jack pulls his legs up, leaning his chin on his knees.

"I love you too," he says, glancing back over his shoulder. "Am I still your type? Do you have a type when it's girls?"

Poison laughs. "It's been a long time since I was like, with a woman without her being part of a threesome or something," he admits. He shrugs. "I mean, I don't know. I don't know if I have a type."

He finishes the braid and finds a little rubber band Girl uses in her hair sometimes. He tends to keep some around and he uses it to tie the end of the braid. Then he wraps his arms around Jack and rests his chin on his shoulder.

"I suppose it doesn't matter," says Jack, leaning back against Poison's chest. "You love me anyway. It's fine." He grins. "Guess you get to be with a girl for a bit. Well. I look like a girl, anyway."

"Hey, like I said. No matter what I have on my mind, I am totally not going to do anything you're not comfortable with, baby. Same rules as always. And I'm not gonna touch you or anything unless you're feeling it."

He gives Jack a gentle squeeze, just wanting to reassure him. Poison is sure that, no matter how chill he is about being in a different body, it's still an adjustment.

He's pathetically grateful for how gentle Poison is, right then. How careful. He draws in a deep breath and then he pulls away, but only so that he can turn in Poison's arms. Only so that he can slip into his lap.
