Poison knows where he is, where he's gone, why he's there. Jillie's gone and Cassie's gone and Jack feels like he can't breath, because of the weight of his sorrow. And Poison is getting him through the worst of it, though the crying and the loss, but he needs some help with the black and tarry anger, the hurt and the loss. And there's nobody in Darrow that Jack trusts to get him out of his head like he knows Bull can.
So he knocks, and he waits, and he tries not to cry again.
There can't be anymore tears left.

"Down to your underwear," he said, because the exposure meant helplessness. "Then on the bed, kneeling, away from me."
He debated tying him. Would it be better - would he feel better if Jack was free to defend himself, if necessary? No, he told himself. He had control, he would remain in control. Jack needed it; he could give it. He found the ropes he used and put Jack in a tight harness, making sure his arms were secure behind his back.

The tighter the ropes get, the quieter his head gets and it's good. It's what he needs. He flexes his fingers and he waits for what's coming next. He knows his safe park if he needs it.

The blow takes him by surprise and he has to bite back a yelp that Bull hasn't told him he can make. He finds a rhythm with the next few, though. He can feel subspace calling and that blissful blankness is all he wants.
